Oct 3-5 (Sun-Tues) Oregon Trail Adventure Hike/Camp - Class A/B

I did a part of my graduate work on the Oregon Trail. Why in October? Most OT immigrants past this area then. We will explore, by foot and by car the remnants of the Oregon Trail west of Echo, Oregon, to the Deschutes River crossing.
Description: two nights camping at Deschutes River State Park tenting sites. Short hikes, short walks to historical sites and short drives. Elevation gain is none to 500 feet.
Day 1 - Set up camp, hike on the trail east of the Deschutes River.
Day 2 - Drive east on I-84 to Echo and return west on side roads that closely follow the Oregon Trail routes. Return to camp for the night. An option is to finish trip and leave.
Day 3 - Hike the Deschutes River trail. Return home.
Please call or email for details. Sign up by Sept 30.

Week-3

October 16th- 24th (Sat-Sun) PCT Backpack Old Station CA to Belden CA - Class C

Backpack 81.7 miles.
We will leave Portland after everyone gets off work on Friday the 15th of October. We will Drive down to the State park Valley of the Rogue on I-5 and spend the night. We will then drive on down to Old Station and arrange the car shuttle and take off hiking. Daily average miles are 10-12. Elevation varies from 2330 at Belden to highest point of 7590 going over a shoulder of Lassen. Lassen is a beautiful area. We will then undulate towards Belden. There are Hot springs and lakes along the first 40 miles. The last 40 miles are lava fields and forests. October is a great month to hike this section of the trail because of fall colors and cooler weather.
Limit 6. To register call Linda Conrad at 360-837-3875 or lcgrconrad@aol.com.
