Week-1

Dec 3 (Sat) Snowshoe Hike at Mt. Hood – Class A

If the weather cooperates we'll get out for and enjoy the first trip of the year. Somewhere in the Government Camp area probably. An easy hike of a couple hours at a slow pace. If you are new to the sport this would be an excellent time to try out you new snowshoes. (Will not stop to rent) If weather looks better for going the next we may go then. Dec 7 (Wed) Wednesday Morning Hike - Class A/B

We hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, usually in Forest Park, then lunch at a nearby cafe. If you would like to know the distance or difficulty of the hike call the leader.
Depart: Wallace Park on NW Raleigh at 9:30AM

Week-2

Dec 10 (Sat) Saturday Surprise Hike – Class A

Bring at least $15 in small bills for carpool expenses, in case the round trip is 100 miles. Bring lunch and water. Hike not more than 8 miles with 1000 feet elevation gain. Check the new Cold Weather Guideline www.trailsclub.org, in the Hiking section, for hints on how to stay warm and happy. Back to Gateway hopefully by 4 PM, could be sooner. Destination decided by Friday before hike, call for more information.

Dec 11 (Sun) Cooper Mt Nature Park Hike - Class A

New! Just posted!

Join us for an afternoon family friendly four mile hike. We will stop during the hike to look for critters, check out the pond and see what interest us. Cooper Mountain Nature Park is located at 18892 S.W. Kemmer Road, Beaverton. Overlooking the Tualatin River Valley, the new Cooper Mountain Nature Park sits on the southern edge of Beaverton, shouldered by dense urban development to the north and open agricultural lands to the south. The 231- acre park offers visitors several miles of gravel trails traversing the park's rare habitats and natural features. Be prepared for rainy weather.

Dec 14 (Wed) Wednesday Morning Hike - Class A/B

Dec 17 (Sat) Early Evening Christmas Ships Walk – Class A- On again!

On this one night, the combined two-river fleet of 55-60 festively lit boats cruises up the Willamette from River Place Marina to Lake Oswego. We’ll walk north along the river to meet them. After we are done watching the boats, those who wish can get together for dinner. Total hiking will be about 2.5 miles. We’ll start at Willamette Park -enter off SR 43 (Macadam Ave.) at SW Nebraska Ave, a mile north of the Sellwood Bridge. Once in the park, turn left and park in the lot on your right at the far north end of the park (if this lot is full, there are other lots farther south in the park).
Depart: 5:15 pm departure from the far north parking lot in Willamette Park (parking is free beginning at 5 pm)

Dec 18 (Sun) Mt. Hood Snowshoe - Class B

Instead of shopping today let's get up to the Mt. and enjoy the snow. Weather and snow conditions will determine where we go. We'll stop along the trip for a lunch break. Dec 23 - 25 (Fri - Sun) Tyee Open

We will be opening the Tyee lodge by 10AM 12/23 Friday morning and closing by 10 AM Sunday 12/25. Please bring your own food. We are hosting a No-cook weekend. If there is interest, we will do pot-luck meals. We are definitely kid friendly. The conditions should be good for sledding and inner-tubing down icy hills. Of course board games and hanging out.

Dec 28 - 30 (Wed - Fri) Tyee Open Updated 12/21!

Deb Ralls will open Tyee by 1pm on 12/28 and cook dinner for members on Wednesday and breakfast on Thursday morning. She will have vegetarian options.
Mya White will be cooking dinner on Thursday night and Friday breakfast. All other meals bring your own food.
Register with host Brian Carlson by Monday the 26th if you would like to stay and have meals. Or by Tuesday night if you just want to stay at the lodge.

Dec 30 (Fri) Teacup Lake XC Country Ski - Class A/B

We’ll ski approximately 5.5 miles along the outer loop at the Teacup Lake Nordic Club’s ski area. Mostly level route with some short up and down sections and with great views of Mount Hood’s east side. The plan will be to do the outer loop, stop for lunch, and then possibly do another short loop. Leader will tend to lead a slower, casual pace.

Dec 30 - Jan 1 (Fri-Sun) New Years at Nesika Backpack - Class A

Come and enjoyed a layed back weekend at Nesika for good food and companionship at New Years. We will have a bring your own food for PotLuck weekend. Bring your favorite hike pictures and we will do projector shows. We could also play a movie if desired. We will do a hike up Larch Mountain on Saturday AM. Be prepared with snow shoes, instep crampons, flash light and small stove with kettle. Cost is lodging plus $5.00 fee for coffee, tea, propane and condiments.

Dec 30 - Jan 2 (Fri-Mon) New Year's weekend at Tyee Lodge

Join us for a New Year’s celebration at Tyee Lodge. The family friendly weekend includes Movie Night (Fri eve) and Game Night on New Year’s eve (Sat nite). Snowshoe to enjoy the fireworks at midnight! Paul and Callista Snively will be your host with Krin Hunt as your cook. Dinner and breakfast will be included. Bring your own lunches. Plan on having fun in the snow, sledding, XC, snowshoeing or relaxing in the lodge by the warm fire.
