April 19 (Thu) Adventures and Travel - India

This January, Steve Wilson traveled to India, to experience its wonderful historical sites and the wildlife at its sanctuaries. Cities visited include: Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ranakpur, Udiapur, Goa, and Mumbai. Along the way were palaces and forts built by the Mughal kings (including the Taj Mahal, the Red Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri), a temple built by the Jains, and villages where the local folks live. The wildlife sanctuaries provided good looks at India's wealth of birds, as well as a large number of animals. Further south, Goa offered a visit to a spice plantation and its Portuguese past. And at Mumbai, the Elephanta Caves offered testament to what four generations of men could do to a solid basalt cliff.

Week-5

Let's Talk About

Bicycling

In February Allen Burrell, Bicycle Coordinator, began pedaling into the summer bicycle season with a bike leader meeting. Encouraged by a promise of Gerda Eck’s soup, leaders soon had 39 bike rides scheduled. The "Rambles" on the last Tuesday of the month are "casual, fun, and flatter" than some rides and good for casual riders. As the season continues watch for other rides to be added and possible schedule changes. Check our bicycle website section and The Trail Blazer for updates. Thank you Allen and Gerda! Thank you all bike leaders!
