All visitors and Trails Club members are encouraged to enjoy the great Northwest outdoors by selecting a hike, bike ride or other event from this calendar. Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

Week-1

April 4 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
This week we will meet at Tryon Creek State Park. Meet at the visitors center for a 9:30 AM departure.

April 8 (Sun) Trips committee at the Lucky Lab

The trips committee will begetting together to socialize and plan hikes for the seasom.
When: Sunday April 8th, 5 PM
Where: Lucky Lab - 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214
Why: Another opportunity to meet at a central location and sign up to lead hikes and enjoy some socializing.

Week-2

April 11 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
This week we will meet in front of the Multnomah Arts Center at 7688 SW Capitol Hwy. in Multnomah Village. Hike will depart at 9:30.

April 15 (Sun) Nesika Restoration Committee Meeting

The committee will meet at 4 PM, Sunday April 15 at Randy Dietrich's home. We will be making plans for the initial work at Nesika.

Week-3

April 18 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
This week we will meet at the Tryon Creek visitor center for 9:30 departure. We will hike on pavement over to the Lewis and Clark campus, then loop around the campus and back to the visitor center. There may be trilliums.

April 21 (Sat) Interstate Bridges Ride - Class A

This ride is a 22 mile loop from the James Gleason Boat Ramp on Marine Drive, over the I-5 bridge to a short stop at the Vancouver Farmers Market. We will then head east from Vancouver along the waterfront to the I-205 bridge. After crossing the river we will follow the south side of the river on the bike path back to the boat landing.

April 21-22 (Sat-Sun) Tyee Open - Mindful on the Mountain Retreat

Please join weekend immersion of yoga recreation, self-care directed by Meredith, a certified yoga instructor. Discussions on mindfulness and grounding practices as well as taking principles of yoga off the mat will be facilitated. Participants can expect a weekend of relaxation, self inquiry, kinship, and the Great Outdoors.
Day one Includes guided meditation, breath work and yoga movement, We will have time for journaling, hiking, snow shoeing (weather permitting!), and free time. Lunch and dinner provided.
Day two includes, a morning yoga class, a gratitude send-off activity, and breakfast.
Cost is $75 for TCO members / $85 for non-members and includes. Meals, lodge overnight fee and workshop and supplies. The event will be limited to 17 participants.

Week-4

April 25 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
This week we will meet at the Powell Butte visitor center, top of the hill at Powell Blvd. and SE 162nd Ave. for 9:30 departure through open fields and woods. Bring walking sticks if you use them.

April 25 (Wed) Evening Hike – Class B

We will start at 6 pm sharp and hike until 8 PM-ish in Forest Park and the West Hills. Please carry a flashlight or headlamp and dress for changeable weather.
Meet: at Wallace Park between NW 25th and 26th on Raleigh.
Cost: Free for Trails Club and Mazama members; $2 non-members
Class B: Approximately 6 miles with 500 - 800 foot elevation gain (not cumulative).

Apr 27 (Fri) Happiness Walk, Salmon Creek Trail, Vancouver WA

We will be walking with Ginny and Paula of Gross National Happiness USA! Paula is on a happiness walk that spans the entire U.S.A. over the course of a few months. April 26-28th is her Vancouver WA leg of the trip and Trails Club of Oregon is hosting her. Read more at http://gnhusa.org/happiness-walk/. We will walk the Salmon Creek trail, which is an easy walk for all levels. It is paved the entire way but passes through very scenic wetlands where you will see geese, ducks, perhaps beaver and more. it will be 6 miles round trip starting and finishing at Klineline pond. Afterwards there will be a BBQ with Ginny and Paula for Trails Club members. Bring water and a snack. Joggers, skates and kids on bikes are welcome on this trail as well. As usual, hike fee for non-members is $2. There will be a cost for the BBQ.
Meet:2:30 PM at Salmon Creek Regional Park/ Klineline Pond 1200 N.E. 117th St · Vancouver, WA. Meet by the bridge to the park in the parking lot.

Apr 28 (Sat) Happiness Walk: Frenchman's bar to Vancouver Lake

We will be walking with Ginny and Paula of Gross National Happiness USA again (day 2)! Check out the info on Paula's walk around the entire U.S.A at http://gnhusa.org/happiness-walk/. This time we will walk from Frenchman's Bar park on the Columbia river, down Frenchman's bar trail, which is a paved, protected from the road, fairly flat trail for all skill levels (kids in strollers and on bikes welcome as well, wheelchair accessible). We will walk to Vancouver Lake Park and back (about 6 miles). BONUS: Alder Creek Kayak will be hosting their free kayak/paddleboard day at Vancouver lake where you can try out all kinds of kayaks and paddleboards for FREE!
We will have a picnic back at Frenchman's bar after we walk back. Looking also for a couple of volunteers to manager the picnic.
